One major benefit of home-based physical therapy is accessibility of care resulting in increased attendance, carryover, participation, and effectiveness of skilled therapy. Trying to schedule different appointments, go to different clinics, factoring in transportation time and fatigue can all be very overwhelming. At Enthusiastic Pediatrics we try to reduce the stress and strain by coming to you!
As clinic owner and sole practitioner at Enthusiastic Pediatrics, Dr. Oelklaus will be able to provide specific and individualized care for your child. There will be no changes in therapists and all scheduling will be done with the therapist, so no phone tag and speaking to multiple office staff members. Every session will be customized to fit your child's needs.
Research Supported
Working and playing in the child's natural environment allows them to more fully participate in skilled physical therapy. A lot of children have complex medical histories with anxiety in medical offices which can affect participation in a clinic. Even if they aren't as shy at offices, allowing them to work and play in their natural environment sets them up for success at home and allows us to address specific concerns in the environments in which concerns occur. Dr. Oelklaus specializes in making therapy seem like play so your child doesn't know they are working.
Research supports that home-based therapy services have greater outcomes than clinic-based services! It improves patient engagement and leads to better outcomes and less visits as compared to clinic-based outpatient therapy services, which means you see improvements faster!

Carryover and Fun
Home based services allow you to recreate and reproduce the home exercise program and physical therapy regime at home! It can be hard transitioning a home exercise from something done in the clinic to something you can do at home. By having services provided in your home, we will work with you to create a reproducible home program allowing for the greatest progress and improvement!
